Irvin Waller was scientific adviser to Efus at its creation in 1987. Since then, he has advised more than 50 governments in Europe and across the world. His recent book “Smarter Crime Control” is a guide to politicians on how to invest in effective crime prevention. The book is also already available in Spanish and Chinese. Irvin has won numerous international awards, particularly for his role as the founding director of the International Centre for Prevention of Crime and as a pioneer of the UN General Assembly resolution that recognized basic rights for victims of crime. He is a Professor at the University of Ottawa in Canada, and President of the International Organization for Victim Assistance.
